One of my favourite activities to do with the kids when it’s rainy outside, or when we’re cranky, or when it’s too hot to do anything (like this week!) is to have a picnic on the playroom floor.
I set out a blanket and we eat lunch or snack on it. Our favourite thing to do is eat ice cream. We all sit on the blanket, huddled almost, and stuff our faces. The toddler gets it all over her and is quite proud. My son eats it slowly, and carefully, savouring every lick.
We all laugh and smile because we are eating in such an unusal place which is a fun treat and it makes us happy.
And seeing them happy makes me very happy.
Have you ever had a picnic in an unusual place?
We have picniced (that spelling looks weird) in the inner courtyard at Fifth Avenue Court in the Glebe because it’s air conditioned!! It’s kinda weird because there is a restaurant patio that shares the courtyard but picnicking is cheaper!

Now that my kids are a bigger we sometimes have a picnic dinner in the living room while watching a movie all together. Love it!

My son loves having picnics on the floor in the kitchen. Sometimes he even crawls under the kitchen table to eat

I love watching movies (or typically sporting events) and having pizza picnics. Sometimes the formality and stress of dinner needs to be broken up!

An picnic anywhere anytime is fun. My daughter has set up a kid’s play tent in their playroom and has picnics there with my grand-daughter. Their cat and bunny come along as well with their special treats.

I love having picnics at the spur of the moment on one of those hot or rainy days (yuck!) pizza, veggies and chips are our favorite menu!!
