A couple notes especially for my Ottawa readers 😉
-This weekend is the Baby Boom Show. Each time I was pregnant with the babes I made a point of going, plus when friends were as well. Some really great businesses will be there, and Ottawa owned ones are especially of interest.
If you are going, check out my friend Amanda’s booth with Little Lotus Yoga and Safe Parent. It will be with Anna Belanger & Associates (www.annabelanger.com).
I asked Amanda to share a bit about them:
Anna is a pre and post natal massage therapist and doula who opened her new clinic in Old Ottawa South in May as a place to nurture mothers and mothers to be. I will be running a lot of my Little Lotus Yoga (www.littlelotusyoga.ca  @littlelotusyoga & Little Lotus Yoga on facebook) and Safe Parent (www.parentsafe.wordpress.com @safeparent and Safe Parent on facebook) courses out of there. I am mostly offering Prenatal Yoga, Mom & Baby Yoga and Gentle Hatha Yoga (suitable for postpartum and beyond, with mothers from all stages of life). Our Safe Parent workshop is a 3 hours first aid and CPR workshop focusing on treatment of infants and children. Also there?  Julie Keon of Mother Nuture (http://www.mncs.ca/) prenatal training & Ottawa belly casting as well as Susan Martenson who runs prenatal & breastfeeding classes and trains all the DONA doulas for Ottawa area (http://birthandbeginnings.org/).
Â
As you can see, it’s not just about babies, but moms too! The show (with free admission!) started today and is on again tomorrow. I know another shop that I love, The Extraordinary Baby Shoppe, is there as well. Many booths have prizes and giveaways (or discounts and show-only deals) so since it may rain tomorrow, this might be fun to check out!
Also have you checked out the awesome new Ottawa-parent site ‘Kids in the Capital’? It is collaboratively run but a few fun women right here in Ottawa that are sharing their experiences with their kids out and about. This city is extremely family friendly (and those who know me, know that I love taking the kids to some pretty fun places around here) but the site will give you some ideas you may not have thought of before.Â
Kids in the Capital also arrange playdates across the city so it’s a great way to meet other moms!Â
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Mine has been surrounded by family and is going far too quickly!
Hi, and welcome to Old Ottawa South (OOS)! I’m the Web Editor of the Old Ottawa South Community Association (OSCA) website, and would happily publish a little article about your new venture on our “front page” and in our Thursday e-newsletter.
I also encourage you to become a registered user of the website and received the weekly newsletter. You can then add your own events (special events, please, not programming, as we do have our own. 🙂
Also feel free to contact the editor of the print newspaper, the OSCAR, to offer an article about yourself introducing you to the area (she decides whether to publish, of course). Her name is Mary Anne Thompson. BTW, her deadline for October is this coming Friday, September 17th. Tell her the Web Editor passed you on to her! You also may wish to advertise in the OSCAR, which reaches approximately 11,000 households in OOS.
Her email is oscar@oldottawasouth.ca
Cheers,
