(Andrea, Shannon, Myself)
Wayyyy back in July I helped organize the first Social Capital Conference in Ottawa and also had the pleasure of speaking on a panel about blog monetization (and the value beyond the revenue).
What’s possibly most exciting was that I was on the panel with two veteran, well respected bloggers who I have admired for years. Andrea of A Peak Inside The Fishbowl fame and Shannon of Zchamu.com and EcoChick (just to name a few) really *get* blogging from a professional, revenue point of view and the importance of great content. Because we all agreed, it’s hard to have the former without the latter.
We had a pretty full room of people eager to learn a little bit about blog monetization. It’s important to note that while we talked about ads and affiliates, we also talked about your blog acting as your resume and the value in saying yes sometimes to non-paid opportunities (which will build your portfolio and possibly lead to paid opportunities in the future.)
As we spoke, we had a slides with some links of interest that may help people find some new connections and opportunities. Below is that slideshow.

This is a fairly new field for many – this concept of turning blogs into business. While my blog continues to grow, I know that I am still learning – and hopefully helping to shape the landscape a little. I’m looking forward to attending and learning more from Andrea on the topic at Blissdom Canada. You can also check out Shannon at Blissdom Canada talking about using social media for social good!
That’s a great thought. I would like to say thanks for telling us your idea’s. We will for sure share your article. We will never stop dreaming. It’s hard to find quality articles.
I’d love to see the presentation but it looks like it’s corrupted! Could a copy of it be reposted or emailed to me? Thanks!
