High Tea in Ottawa at a historical location

Step back in time and visit Laurier House for Tea on the Veranda this summer. Bring your friends, make it a date, or include your kids, tweens and teens for the unique experience and lasting memories.

I’ve shared frequently over the years that we love high tea and this one certainly didn’t disappoint.

The wrap-around porch of Laurier House National Historic Site welcomes visitors this summer on select days of the week. Laurier House is also free to visit as part of the Canada Strong Pass which is available June 19 through September 7, 2026.

The delicious bites paired with artfully selected teas savoured against the backdrop of the historic Laurier House and the quiet Sandy Hill neighbourhood lead to laughs and reflections with friends.

Formerly the home of two Prime Ministers, Sir Wilfrid Laurier and William Lyon Mackenzie King one can imagine the political conversations that happened in the home, which some say is haunted.

You can take a self-guided tour or listen to one of the interpreters offering insights into the Laurier’s sitting room, marvel at the art and furniture, or learn about King’s penchant for seyonces.

But before you satisfy your historic taste buds, enjoy the tea service on the veranda.

The food is prepared by locally owned Working Title, the restaurant directly across the street from Laurier House and an anchor in the community.

Every bite left me wanting more, and filled me enough that I needed a take-home box.

Seating times are 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm

$68 per guest
