Mom Central and Pampers are working together to develop a ‘made-by-moms’ tip sheet focusing on two areas:
-How to Cope with Going Back To Work (Ways mom can prepare for D-day and ways to soothe the unease.)
-Baby/Mommy sleep tips (Tips to help baby and mom get enough rest!)
The great part is that you have a chance to win one of 25 gift cards ($20 each) or the grand prize of $500 (visit the website for full details).
I like this initiative because real tips from other moms is probably how most of us survive some days – that’s one of the reasons why Twitter is so great – there’s an immediate response to a question or call for help (or at least help in saving some sanity 😉
There are many areas that cause worry and stress for moms, but I’m sure many of us will rate sleep (or lack thereof) as one of the most stressful things we live through. I don’t have the experience of transitioning from home/maternity leave back to work, but I’m sure many of you have had to deal with a lot of anxiety associated with this.
I have few tips for sleep – why? Because I don’t have kids who sleep through the night. I mostly cosleep, and in fact, both of my kids need cuddles to fall asleep/stay asleep often. That’s just how they are, and really, I don’t know any other way so I like it. There are times it’s inconvenient to lie down with them, but most times I am more than happy to stop the day and cuddle. But here are my sleep tips:
1) Get sleep any way you can. For me, that meant cosleeping. Some days, it means my husband and I took turns napping. During the day, I slept when the baby slept (at least when I only had one). Yes, sometimes dishes didn’t get down but that’s ok. In the early weeks especially, you need sleep!
2) A sleeping baby this week, doesn’t guarantee you a sleeping baby next week 😉 Sometimes, their sleep habits change – they learn something new, growing pains, teething – it’s stressful, but it too shall pass.
3) You can not hold a baby too much when sleeping! Enjoy it, yes, eventually, a routine will start etc. But in those early days especially, just looking at a sleeping baby will bring joy.
