So I was hesitant to sign up for Pinterest (I mean, let’s be honest, I spend enough time on other sites) but I finally jumped in and now, after drinking the Pinterest water, I’m hooked.
It’s partially because of all of the house renovation talk that it has me captivated – the ideas and pretty things on the site are inspiring, motivating and beautiful. It’s partly because there’s just neat stuff to be found.
In December, Heather from Smart Space Organizing posted about organizing your linen closet by putting all matching linens in a single pillow case. Love it! But it was a busy December and my linen closet was the least of my worries.
Then, while browsing Pinterest, I saw the recommendation again (from Martha Stewart of course!). This weekend I decided to tackle the linen closet and amaze Andy with beautiful and smart organization by putting all matching sheet sets into a pillow case.
Read Heather’s article for details and here’s the picture that inspired me on Pinterest:
And here is my finished closet!! Identical right? 😉
Now, in all seriousness, this really works well. We know to grab the pillow case and all the bedding is inside. But I’m not very good at making it look pretty I guess. I am still happy with it! HA! I couldn’t stop laughing while I was doing it.
Check out this hilarious site for other people in my predicament. You know I nailed it.
Eventually maybe I’ll share a Pinterest idea that works for me – have similar stories? Or successes? Please share in the comments!
sigh
err, I mean LOL!
My challenge with Pinterest is that I too need and want the inspiration but don’t need or want more distractions.
Having said that, if there is a way to train the rest of the family to treat the linen closet as a linen closet and keep out non-linen type stuff, maybe THEN I’ll attempt to make it look neat and tidy…
I’ve been putting my sheets in the matching pillow cases for about 6 months now. It may not always look pretty, but it’s much better then it used to be and it makes it so much simpler when going to change sheets.
Pinterest is my new love. It’s been getting more attention than Facebook since November!
I pinned that one on pinterest ages ago and I think of doing it everytime I fold my linen. Have yet to do it, but I am sure it will look just like yours 🙂 Awesome!
I’ve been folding my sheets like that for years. I love the efficiency of it – no more hunting for the last pillowcase.
I have never ever gotten them to look that good. In fact, they look more like bulky cloth garbage bags. I choose efficiency over beauty in this case. 🙂
(I think a couple of sets in the “pretty” picture have cardboard in them to make them look super flat. Just a hunch though.)
I love Pinterest. It’s so much fun.
We have had some real successes with Pinterest recipes including one for a slow cooker BBQ chicken. As always, altered it a bit based on what we had in the house, but a total repeat! It was this one: http://mamaandbabylove.blogspot.com/2011/04/freezer-cooking-with-slow-cooker.html
I love things I can take out of the freezer, put in the slow cooker and disappear to a day of appts. We will be making it again.
I love Pinterest, for ideas both big and small. Here is my most recent win… So simple it hurts. 🙂

Thank you for this. I roared. Did you see the Cookie Monster cupcakes? Too funny.
And I love your Martha Stewartish closet. … ish rocks. : )
I’m new to Pinterest, clueless and vaguely afraid of it, so I’m waiting for some clues (and miracles) from Lara Wellman.
(Then maybe I’ll get ambitious… ; )
Thanks for sharing.
I do the sheets in the pillow case thing too. With 5 beds to change (and two kids who can now mostly do it themselves) it’s much easier just to grab a package and go than it is to look for everything. Especially if you’re like me and everything MUST match. However my closet looks much more like yours than it does the pinspiration 😉 Glad it’s not just me! Haha
I’ve given up on event folding sheets. I pull them off of the bed, wash them, and make the bed back up with the same sheets straight out of the dryer. When the sheets get worn, I replace them with a nice new set! My folded sheets never look neat and tidy. Your closet looks awesome!
