Does your family have those recipes that keep getting passed down, or that HAVE to show up on the table during the holidays? You know the ones I’m talking about.
My dad’s stuffing, for example, was my grandmother’s recipe. No matter how delicious different recipes may look, if he placed a bowl of stuffing in front of us at Thanksgiving or Christmas that wasn’t the EXACT recipe we grew up with, we’d riot. My husband says my family may be a little to attached to tradition, but I digress.
Of all the recipes I grew up with, there may be no stranger one that is well loved than the ‘green marshmallow salad’ (sometimes called the marshmallow salad, weird marshmallow salad or green salad around here). This salad would show up at our dinner table on a Sunday night when we’d be having a roast, or during the holidays. It was often made for the summer BBQs as well.
With only four ingredients, the recipe is easy. And while I may not be filing this one under ‘healthy salad recipes‘, it gets points for taste and nostalgia.
Turns out, the Kraft Canada recipe has this recipe (or one mostly like it) on their site. It’s called the Watergate Salad. My family will forever call it the green marshmallow salad.
- 1 tub Cool Whip (not frozen)
- 1 package JELLO Pistachio Pudding Mix (as is, straight from the box!)
- 1 can crushed pineapple, drained
- 1 bag mini-marshmallows
- Combine all of the ingredients and enjoy!
disclosure: I was compensated for this post as part of my Kraft Canada What’s Cooking contributor status, however, opinions are my own.
