Healthy Snacking (Subtitled: Please help cure me of my Chicago Mix Addiction)

Since having kids, we eat our supper rather early.  We wait for Andy to get home, but I usually have him message me from the bus and then I start making supper to have it timed for shortly when he gets in.  The kids have a certain threshold that if they cross, our pleasant family dinner because a tear-filled fight.

On weekends, we like to eat around 4:30 or 5 pm. On weekdays it’s between 5 and 5:30.  I often don’t snack at night.

I always have a glass of cold water during the evening, and because Andy always has a tea, I’ve taken to having one as well, but we rarely snack or eat again when the kids are asleep. Sometimes, when watching television, I eat chips or nachos.  On weekends, we might have a snack during movie time at night.

My evening weakness is baking. If I’ve baked something (or, as you know, during my Game of Thrones Sunday Night Bake Goods eating period), I have eat it.

I’m trying to snack healthier. During the day especially, but even at night because I know I associate the crunch of the chip with TV.

I love cherries and enjoy those from time to time.  I am obsessed with dried mango (and just discovered I can get them at Farm Boy in bulk. Yes please!)

Sure, they may not replace my Chicago Mix obsession, but they are tasty.

What’s your favourite television viewing snack? What’s a healthy alternative?

I am a horrible night snacker. Although I try to be somewhat healthier. I usually would have a smoothie or fruit or even cereal. Now I am trying to limit myself but its hard.
