For years, Andy and I had little on the walls of our home. We love art and photos but we never could commit to something. We had a few pieces that we were gifted or loved; one that we picked up in Old Montreal one year long before we had the kids. But we found it difficult to put just anything on the walls unless we truly loved it.
I’ve written before our about PEI picture that we put on acrylic with Posterjack. Oh, how we love it. The shine and glare from the acrylic brings life to an otherwise boring wall, and the picture itself can’t help but take us back to the warm sand between our toes on Panmure Island where it was taken.
I’ve partnered with Posterjack again for another print, but this time, it’s a simple canvas. I decided to have one of my favourite pictures from our Turks and Caicos vacation this year printed up. The colours have no filter on them, and as with our PEI picture, we can hear the waves in the picture and feel the sun kiss our cheeks like it was that day.
I love how it turned out and we found a home for it in our front hallway so that every time we come home we see it.
Looking for ways to use your own photos for art? Here’s a few things to consider:
1- Vacation photos offer endless possibilities
Whether it’s a family picture or a scenic one, scroll throw your favourite vacation photos to find a great art shot.
2- Use more than one image
Make a collage or print multiple images from the same trip (or theme) and put them on small canvases, then cluster them together.
3- Find a beautiful frame
Sometimes, a simple printed photo can look fancier with a gorgeous frame.
4- Select the right medium
Not everything has to be a canvas. Look at wood options, acrylic and more to mix up the look in your house.
No more blank walls! Your camera holds a plethora of art work waiting to inspire you.
Do you print and hang your pictures as art?
Disclosure: I received a discount on my canvas thanks to my friends at Posterjack, however opinions are my own.
