One of my most favourite things to do is take a hot bath. It’s my go-to after a long day, when I need to relax my muscles, when I’m stressed, when I just want to be alone, when I have a headache, and even when I started labour with my youngest, I turned to the tub before waking Andy.
It’s a santuary of sort. We have a large soaker tub that was one of my favourite features when we bought the house. I’m a sucker for bubble baths and never have enough, but I love a nourishing bath bomb, and lately, I’ve been needing epsom salts more. I didn’t realize the benefits of epsom salts until I read this article from Eco Chic Movement.
We have candles around the tub that can be lit for a calming environment. I typically don’t bring in a book, but I have been known to bring in my phone to surf (and every time I wonder if *that* will be the time I drop it in the tub.)
I feel like there are people who love baths and those who hate them. Many people prefer to ditch the giant tub and add in a huge shower (which is also lovely!) but there’s no way I would give up the bathtub in my bathroom.
I think as parents we need to find these moments of quiet. Of being alone. There are other ways that I rejuvenate – with a hot cup of tea, or a good book – but there is nothing better some days than a hot bath.
Do you agree?
Yes, absolutely! I’ve been needing some relaxation lately and I do all of these things too – hot baths, reading a good book and drinking lots of tea! So important to look after ourselves so that we can look after others with love and kindness too. I enjoyed reading your post, have a great day!
taking that time is so important! I’ve gotten much better at it!
