In typical fashion, I’m posting a Happy New Year post almost two weeks into the year. It was a wonderful holiday break with the kids and family (and I loved the late schedule this year) but having everyone return to routine on January 9th meant that we quickly found ourselves almost mid-month sooner than expected.
That’s okay though.
2023 is off to a typical start in that I am feeling a sense of renewal and excitement with the blog and work, the kids are ready to hit some milestones (the youngest graduates grade 8 this year. The eldest will be writing exams and picking courses for their final high school year). We also want to really focus on quality time and togetherness too.
All that is happening with a pandemic in the background.
Parenting over the past few years, school and work for that matter too, has been a challenge to say the least. There’s no ‘going back to normal’ but we are trying to navigate parenthood and life with gentleness as best with can.
I have chosen a guiding word for the year. I often do, although admittedly I’m not sure I did last year.
This year, my word is revive.
REVIVE.
It’s not about going back to something or changing. I see it more about rooting in place and regaining a sense of self.
Also, one final quick note. Revive also means that this blog will get a little more love this year. Writing the past few years (again, see the pandemic note above) hasn’t always been easy. But I love it, and want to continue to share random thoughts and ideas.
So thank you. For still being here. For reading it. For engaging with me (here or on social). I really appreciate you and this community. Many of you have been reading since I began this blog – with a toddler at my feet and baby in my arms.
That means a lot to me. Thank you.
Have you chosen a word?
