Ottawa has no shortage of children’s activities and I think it’s one of the greatest things about this city. Being a parent in Ottawa seems pretty easy sometimes.
I’m excited to tell you about the Great Canadian Theatre Company’s Playtime Program.
Looking to go to a matinee? The Playtime Program will keep your children, ages 6-12, happy and busy while you enjoy a theatre performance. There are two programs that your children can enjoy:
Kids participating in the Playtime Program, with Kids Create, will be part of a fun and exciting craft time. This experience will include learning to create with new and recycled materials. At the end, all children will have finished creating several, unique crafts to take home with them. Crafts and supervision are provided by Kids Create, a local business run by an Ottawa resident and mom with years of experience in teaching and art.
The Playtime Program with the OYP Theatre School will give kids the opportunity to play theatre games and work on a short performance piece in the theme of the play you are attending and then perform it for you!
How much fun would that be to watch your children perform their own play? I love this concept and can’t wait until my little ones are old enough to check it out.
Reservations are required and the Great Canadian Theatre Company has a lot of great performances coming up.

I love the raw emotion, the sense of connection with the actors and the thrill of being close to the action.
I love the GCTC and have been there many times. The intimate theater brings you so close to the actors. It is so rare that we get to see people up close in acting roles, and not from via a screen. We have been looking at Amelia and have been wondering if it is age appropriate for my 9yo…if we won the tickets I would seriously consider bringing her.
I love being transported to another place and time by a group of individuals who have invested a great deal of energy and time to help you get there.
I love the escape of the theatre and would love to take my niece Amelia, to this play. The GCTC is a fantastic venue.
Live theatre requires that I use my imagination to enter the story. I’m a participant rather than a viewer. Tv and movie performances are usually more “packaged” and less engaging.
I love all live theatre, yet I’m definitely a sucker for musical theatre. Love the music!
I would love to go to the Great Canadian Theatre. I have never been there and from what I have heard, I know it is really GREAT. Thanks for having this contest.
