If heading outside into the cold temperatures isn’t what you are planning to do this weekend, consider instead taking the kids to a performance at Shenkman Arts Centre. This Saturday they have a puppet show called Charly in the Desert. This story about two children who are entering a new family situation and are required to explore their potential friendship and cultural differences sounds like a unique experience for families.
Charly in the Desert explores themes of tolerance, sharing, and bridging cultural differences. Drawing on African cultural themes and innovative uses of marionettes, the story was inspired by author Ève Alexandre-Beaulieu’s travels through Burkina Faso.

Charly in the Desert has two performances available this weekend – a 10 am English show, and a 3 pm French show. The show is recommended for children aged 5 – 12 and is general admission.
