I know my content is often about family activities and what to do as a family, but if you’ve been around here long enough you know that I love to share ideas for adults – parents, friends, couples – to have a little fun too!
Recently, I was fortunate enough to win a giveway on Instagram for a virtual cooking lesson and wine tasting. Um, yes, it was an amazing giveaway.
I found out about the giveaway because the wine tasting was being hosted by the wine maker at Cave Spring Vineyard. We have a wine membership with Cave Spring and visit as often as we can so we were already familiar with their delicious wines.
The Culinary Studio, the cooking school hosting the event, was new to me though. They are located in Kitchener Waterloo, but with virtual classes their geographic location isn’t an issue. Their classes can be purchased as class-only (where you shop for the ingredients) or, if you are in Ontario, you can purchase the ingredients plus class as a package. Add on a wine selection too if you like!
A Cooking Class To Remember
Now. When I tell you that we had an amazing time and ate amazing food, trust me. I know that not everyone is still into online activities, but I’m happy to find virtual opportunities that are so engaging and where I can stay home. Plus, anytime a class sends something TO MY DOOR to be more hands on makes me happy.
The instructions, and wine tasting notes, were engaging and so interesting. We learned a lot (and Andy and I are quite comfortable in the kitchen already). We invited another couple to join us, and while only Vanessa (a travel and freelance writer) could attend, it was really a great way to visit and chat about the food and follow the instructions. I simply set up the laptop on our table to watch and listen (we did keep video off as a choice!)
While this class had a wine tasting component, most focus only on the food. We could do a future class with the kids, although this is the perfect date night event at home.
When you do order your package, you can select their recommended wine to add as well.
On The Menu
The recipes for our evening included an antipasto garlic bread made in the cast iron skillet, and a breaded chicken with Brussels sprouts and a lemon cream noodle.
I’m drooling thinking about it again.
At first, looking at the instructions it seemed like it may be complicated, but with the online teaching and by doing it step by step, it was easy. Plus, the recipes can be made over and over again in the future (we’ve already made the garlic bread again!)
Our wine pairing was the Cave Spring 2020 Pinot Noir and the Cave Spring 2020 Chardonnay Musque Estate. Honestly, we love these wines so much.
Upcoming classes with The Culinary Studio include a Gastro Pub Night In (with a cocktail/beer pairing option!), a Seafood Laska (a one-pot dish!) and a special anniversary event to celebrate their business. There are many many more! You’ll want to browse the site for all the options. Remember, you can order the package with food, but also just the class and you do the shopping!
All classes are recorded so you can participate live, or wait until it’s more convenient!
A huge thank you to The Culinary Studio and Cave Spring for this amazing giveaway. We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to do it again.
