Thanks for checking out my segments on CTV Ottawa Morning Live this morning! I really appreciated the words of encouragement. As promised, I’ll be posting the cookie recipe and the craft we did. First up for your weekend planning are these easy to bake and decorate cookies. Enjoy!
Sugar Cookie Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup of butter
2 cups of flour
2 tbsp of sugar
1/2 cup icing sugar
1 egg
Directions:
Mix until dough forms – using a hand/stand mixer for quickest results or knead dough until well blended.
Wrap the dough ball in cellophane wrap and chill in the fridge at least one hour.
Using flour on the rolling pin and on the counter surface, roll out the dough to desired thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes.
Bake 300 degrees for 15-20 minutes, depending on how thick the dough is and how crisp you like your cookies.
Decorate with icing sugar!
Icing Sugar:
Combine a drop of vanilla, couple tablespoons of water and add 1/2 cup icing sugar. Mix until paste like consistency forms, adding more water or icing sugar to desired consistency/amount. Colour with food colouring.
Spread icing on cookies and decorate with sprinkles, candy etc. Let icing harden completely.
Cookies can be frozen, and dough can be kept in the fridge for a couple of days.
I’ll definitely be making these with my boys over Christmas! Thanks, Rebecca!
