I love love when my kids use their imagination and make up random games or set up pretend scenes. There are plays, and characters, and situations invented out of thin air. Their creativity flows and it’s amazing the stories they weave.
Tonight at bedtime I was instructed NOT to clean up a certain ‘set up’ of toys while the kids were sleeping – that the game would continue in the morning. I ignored the fact that it was in the middle of the room and obliged to leave it set up as is so they can continue the scene tomorrow.
Case in Point:
This is a spy station (or so I’ve been told, in a very fast-paced story before bed)
The Triceratops has the power to break the horns off of other dinosaurs
The dragon breathes fire against bad guys
The caterpillar is poisonous, but his poison turns bad guys good
Apparently, bad guys are coming tomorrow.
That’s quite the team that’s been assembled…can’t wait to see what happens next 😉
What are some of your children’s fun ‘scenes’ being created in your house? Why not take a picture and blog it or share it (and be sure to let me know when you do!)
I struggle with forts in our house; they love them and it’s such imaginative play but I need to (a) get into their room (b) use our kitchen chairs (c) sleep with blankets on my bed 😉
That’s quite the set-up. Looks like everything is in place to take on the bad guys tomorrow 😉
That’s imagination and creativity to its full potential!
We’re all about ceiling ninjas over here these days – http://neeroc.wordpress.com/2012/04/17/i-never-would-have-imagined-it/
Isn’t it awesome when they play like this? My 4yo and her little friend played outside yesterday and although the sandbox was littered with plastic toys, the main attraction was
sticks
stones
worms
upside down milk crates
sand
mud
water
And they busily and happily played for FOUR HOURS. Talking talking talking (but not to/at/with ME lol!)
Your kids are so creative, and that can be nurtured into talent. It will be good if you really watch them closely and help them discover if they are good at art so that they can venture in it.
