We ventured out last night to the Orleans Parade of Lights with the kids. I love a good Santa parade. There’s the music, and the lights, and Santa himself and it just makes me feel all Christmasy.
I could do without the freezing wind and cold.
Despite the weather, Orleans did a fantastic job on their parade. It is well located, it was fun, and the kids were troopers. It’s definitely a late night for my early-to-bed kiddos, but worth it. I asked my daughter about half way through (when I lost feeling in my toes) if she wanted to go home. She stood in place, cold with red cheeks and said ‘nooo. Then I would miss Santa!!”.
We stayed until the end and both kids were asleep within minutes of getting buckled in the van. I had two very happy children. Frost bite is a sign of parental love, is it not?
Meanwhile, around here this week we are bracing for the full impact of kitchen renos. Demo is on Friday, install next week. Counters sometime thereafter (maybe by Christmas?). Plus, we decided we wanted a new car (of course) so as the van was getting older (and less reliable) we leased a new Ford Escape. It’s all very exciting but makes for a very busy time!
Side note: Christmas decor can’t go up until after the cupboards get in and things aren’t a mess. This is stressing me out. This weekend should have been my decorating weekend!!!
Have you decorated? Hit any parades yet?
Glad the family enjoyed the parade! Did you really get frost-bite!!
You are very brave to have your kitchen demo start so close to the holidays. I hope that your cupboards come in on schedule and that you have the house and the new kitchen all ready to celebrate the holidays 😉
Christmas decorating always starts on the first weekend of December in our house. As our bundle of joy is expected on the 21st we’re switching things up a bit this year. We’re keeping the Christmas tree outside so that we can wait to deal with it and not have to worry about it dying and leaving needles everywhere. It means all new plastic ornaments, but I’m excited about it 🙂
So so cold!! I selfishly wrapped the baby to me to keep him warm 😉 Gotta love my little furnace
Congrats on getting a new kitchen and a new car. Such exciting times! Got to love the holidays and seeing Santa. Frost bite is definitely a sign of parental love!
