Are you feeling the pull of the season? This time of year is like a time warp for us. With Back to school leading into Thanksgiving leading into Halloween, family birthdays and then Christmas, the Fall has never been a quiet season. That’s in addition to the day-to-day house/work/life stuff that we are doing.
This is in no way supposed to be a complaint. This is in fact, one of my most favourite times of the year. But I recognize all too quickly when things are speeding by at a pace that I wish would just slow down.
The kids have mastered this. Nothing is more pressing than fun. In their world’s, everything can wait a little bit longer if it means having a few more laughs or playing that next game.
We should take our notes from them more often. It’s difficult with time crunches and adult responsibilities, but this time of year is so busy, and yet, such a beautiful time that we really should be stopping and, to change a phrase a little, smelling the leaves.
Better yet, stop and jump in them.
