There is a bevy of posts and articles about gift ideas for moms. I can tell you high on my list each year are sleeping in and some form of baked goods. Both usually happen for me.
I love fresh flowers, iTunes gift cards, Chapters gift cards. I don’t need much, and appreciate the thought that goes into gift buying for Mother’s Day each year.
However, what if you are looking for a gift for mom that also gives back? Not only will mom be happy, but her heart will warm knowing that her gift also helped someone else. I’ve rounded up three options (although a quick search for ‘Mother’s Day gifts that give back’ on Google will bring up many more ideas!)
1- The Me to We Mother’s Day Bracelet
With each of these bracelets sold, DHL will donate $5 to provide a health clinic visit for a mother and child in a Free the Children community overseas.
The bracelet itself is sweet and pretty with ‘mom’ stamped on it. Fashion plus health assistance to those in need? That’s pure beauty.
2- Ten Thousand Villages Scarf
I love supporting Ten Thousand Villages, because when I do I know that the products are Fair Trade and sold for equitable and fair pay. Each item in the shop has a story. In this case, this perfect-for-spring scarf is made by artisans who are primarily women and working to earn an income and gain self-sufficiency. That’s something I can proudly wrap around my neck.
3- Unicef Mother and Baby Tetanus Shot
It may not seem glamourous, but a simple donation to Unicef can have a profound, lasting impact. This Mother and Baby Tetanus Shot gift is a package of 355 tetanus shots to immunize mothers who pass immunity to their babies. These shots protect them from the dangerous disease in nations of need.
Be sure to check the order dates for delivery on each!
Happy Shopping!
