Twitter this week has been at times eerily quiet or buzzing because a lot (I’m talking thousands I believe) of bloggers are at the Blogher Conference in Chicago.
I’ve really hated because I’m jealous enjoyed seeing the tweets about what everyone is doing. I can’t imagine how exciting it is to speak to people via our blogs or Twitter and then finally meet in person. Plus, I’ve been to enough conferences in my working life to know that there is something special about bringing that many people together who share similar interests and listening to panels, experts and discussions. It’s a great way to network and learn from other peoples experiences.
Blogging has become my little side project while I’m home with the kids. I love connecting with other bloggers, sharing my finds, recipes, tips etc. It’s a little time for me and it’s, quite frankly, a lot of fun. I am growing in my writing and really enjoy it and while I feel my blog is still evolving (based on the variety of posts I do, I don’t really have a theme do I?) a conference like Blogher is very appealing to me.
It was announced that next year’s event will be in New York City. And now I am faced with wanting to go and having to decide if I will. Tickets are available but do sell out early. New York is only about 6 hours via car away from Ottawa, so that’s a bonus, but it would mean leaving the kids and hubby overnight, for a couple nights (but they will be older). So it’s a long ways away but planning starts now. I know I can learn so much, I really want to connect with my readers and Twitter pals in person, but is it my time? I’m not sure.
Are you going to Blogher 2010? Have you been this year or in the past? I’d love to hear about it!
