This weekend is Thanksgiving weekend (in Canada). It’s a wonderful holiday where my family comes together to gorge on a turkey dinner that my husband and I do, visit, catch up and even pick names for Christmas.
It’s mostly an ‘eat, drink and be merry’ kind of holiday but, as the name implies, it’s nice to take time to give thanks. I am thankful for:
- My children. Not just because I feel all warm and fuzzy looking at their sweet smiles and adoring eyes, but for them being them. My son and his silly jokes and endearing warmth and my daughter for her cute eye squint she is doing right now when you catch her attention or the way she touches my face lovingly. They are a light in my world.
- My husband. He’s supportive, hilarious, smart and handsome. A complete package. Maybe his most wonderful quality? He’s an outstanding father.
- My family. That means my own parents and siblings and my husbands parents and siblings. Despite any differences we have during the year, they are all a blast and treat my kids like gold which is very special to me. They are our closest friends.
- Friends. They know who they are. We’ve had lots of changes since Thanksgiving last year, but these friends are there for me and are fun to get together with. Some of this support even comes from my new online friend community which makes it unique but just as important.
- Health. I wish my friends and family continued health. We take it for granted sometimes until someone gets sick, but it’s so important.
I am thankful for the little everyday things that make me happy. I count my blessings each day to have such a wonderful life. There are challenges, stresses and difficulties but I think there are very few and I am grateful for that.
Enjoy your turkey dinners and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
