Tis the season – yes, the holiday season, but also the flu and cold season (and with the H1N1 concerns, it’s impossible to avoid hearing about it this year).
We are all being more diligent about washing hands and ensuring the kids do the same. Many of us carry around small bottles of disinfectant/antibacterial lotion for on-the-go. Even though I have switched my household cleaners, bath products etc. to natural, non-toxic, non-chemically choices, I will be the first to slap on an antibacterial hand sanitizer when at a store etc. But I never like putting it on the kids. My son still puts his hands in his mouth all the time so while necessary sometimes, it wasn’t ideal.
Then I started hearing buzz about CleanWell – a natural, non-toxic antibacterial product that comes in spray form (a huge benefit with kids!). It peaked my interest. It’s made without alcohol, harsh chemicals and instead from plants that kill germs.
I was especially happy when Gwen from Nayla Natural Care (on Twitter @NaylaNatural) contacted me to test out the product and do a giveaway on my blog (more on that later). Perfect!
So for the past couple of weeks, I’ve been carrying around CleanWell in my purse and car. Here’s what I think:
What I like about it:
-All natural, non-toxic – no chemicals
-Is sprayed on, much easier with children
-Sprays on light, non-greasy, non-sticky
-Small bottle easy for keeping in your purse, car, diaper bag etc.
Other thoughts:
It comes in two scents: Citrus Herb and Orange Vanilla. Both are very mild which means they aren’t offensive. While I personally love the smell of the Bath and Body Works antibacterial lotion, the CleanWell is still a lot better than that alcohol smell many have. I like that it’s mild, but still light and fresh.
This product is biodegradable, so it’s environmentally friendly as well as people friendly!
Ultimately, I have no real ‘test’ to determine it’s effectiveness, but I do trust the claims and the power of the natural germ fighting capabilities of certain plants. There’s some great information on the CleanWell website. I love that it’s non-toxic and I feel much better spraying it on my son’s hands now.
The Conclusion
I’ll definitely buy more when it runs out, though each bottle is good for 200 sprays (2 sprays usually is more than enough each use I find). Nayla Natural Care is selling each bottle for $6.49 – get it while it’s in stock!
