Whew! Even the name is a mouthful. These yummy squares I made up when looking for a baking recipe with my son. They mostly came about because we had all the ingredients. He, of course, doesn’t eat the squares (why. I don’t know – he likes all the parts separately! ha!) but he loved snacking on everything individually.
This would be a perfect activity during March Break to do together – I put all the ingredients in bowls ahead of time and let him ‘taste test’ them all while we cooked. Enjoy the time together!
Ingredients:
2 cups marshmallows
1/3 (or more 😉 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup butter
1/2 cup peanut butter
4 cups regular Cheerios*
Directions:
1-On stovetop melt peanut butter and butter.
2-Add marshmallows and continue to melt
3-When marshmallows have melted, add Cheerios, 2 cups at a time. Mix well.
4-Press into greased 8 x8 pan.
5-Press chocolate chips on top.
Let cool – they will firm up. Enjoy!
*You could use Rice Krispies, but you may have to adjust the number of cups, I’m not sure. I had both but went with Cheerios because they have more salt which I thought would play well with the PB and chocolate. yum 😉
Uh oh. Now I am totally going to have to make this with my kids this week. And pray I don't eat it all myself 🙂 Great recipe!
Thanks for posting this…I think I dreamt about them last night! I can't wait to make them and hide them from everyone else in the house. 😉
I am signed in as pdg and too lazy to sign out…so putting my 'real' name here:
