Yesterday we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. After going out for a romantic dinner on Saturday night to Allium in Ottawa (fantastic food and atmosphere!) we spent yesterday with the kids. We took them on a picnic, playing ball and running around outside near the water front and stopped for chip stand french fries and ice cream cones. It was very fitting for us 6 years later, and we couldn’t have felt happier.
Here is the post I wrote about the small things that are important in marriage last year.

Coming off of a high of happiness, today we mourn the passing of my grandmother, who left this world this morning. She was 88 and while she was in hospital and had been ill, it always is still sad and unbelievable even. As a grandchild, you see your grandparents as invincible. She was a great woman, talented in the arts (an oil painter) and had a perfect sense of humour. I am happy my children knew her, but will be sad when my son asks to go see her and play golf, something he took a liking to do at her house.
Life is in constant balance – happy and sad.
Oh Rebecca 🙁 I am so sorry to hear about your grandmother. You are very lucky that she was able to know your kids and that they were able to know her. Thinking of you.
