A couple of dates/points of interest for you!
1) Tomorrow is Blog OutLoud Ottawa. Lynn from Turtlehead is hosting over 20 bloggers who will each read a post from the past year. I am going to listen, and READ. All our welcome to Irene’s Pub so if you have time, feel free to come and join us. I may need some calming advice!
2) On Sunday, I’ve been invited to attend as a mommy-food blogger the awesome sounding Outstanding in our Fields wine and food evening at Saunders Farm. First, I just discovered today that Saunders has a Splash Pad for the kids, so I’ll be tucking that away for sometime later in the summer. But secondly, this event is being hosted by Saunders Farm, Savvy Wine Company and Epicuria Fine Food Store and Catering.
The event starts after 3 with some time to explore the grounds, a hay ride and then dinner at 6. There is pricing for the full wine and dinner package, the designated driver package and children under 10 are $10! A limited number of tickets are available. Let me know if you end up going too!
3) The new Calypso Waterpark is open outside of Ottawa. Dani (Postcards from the Mothership) had a chance for a sneak peak and then later took her family to it (blogging it of course!). We drive by it on the way to see my grandfather every few weeks and each time my son asks to go. He talks about it a lot. Now, he is sometimes hesitate to go to the (free) splash pads around the park. He loves water, but it has to be on HIS terms. So the thought of dropping $100 for all of us to go is not high on my list. Thanks to someone on Twitter, it was pointed out that Mont Cascades, also near Ottawa, is having a $10 admission special for everyone all summer. So our day would cost $30. Less line ups likely. Something to consider!
Okay, glad I got that info out! 🙂
I would skip Calypso. We took our 3.5 year old there and were quite dissapointed There is just one area that is appropriate for her and the three slides that were the perfect size for her were all closed. As she is timid around water she only went down the slightly larger ones a total of 3 times in five hours. We would have had more fun at a splash pad!
Thanks Patricia, that’s what I was worried about. Splash pads or backyard sprinkler this year – maybe a trip to Mont Cascades!
