My family and I just got back from being away for almost a week. We were visiting my husband’s family, which is about a 9 hour drive away. I’ve written about driving with the kids before and this trip was no different. We made great time on the day we left.
We spent our time away enjoying the large property at my mother-in-law’s. The kids were able to run, play, jump in the sprinkler and we even had multiple bon fires (where we got to roast marshmallows!).
We went to the beach and discovered that both my kids love the water (swimming lessons are coming in the Fall). We spent time with aunts, an uncle and a cousin.
The kids were somewhat off schedule and some nights their sleep was terrible, but overall, we had a wonderful time away. It’s always nice to have my husband off of work, and to have the extra hands around to help with the kids.
My son, a huge baseball fan, also went to his first home game of his favourite team. That was a very special day for us all.
Now we are home and will try to get them back on track. This usually takes a few days and we all look forward to the quiet time. Even though we had a wonderful visit, nothing beats your own bed and routine.
We still have one more fun vacation to Niagara Falls later this summer but for now I unpack the suitcase.
Did you travel anywhere this summer with the kids?
Niagra Falls? That sounds great! We just moved to Colorado, so no vacations for us until later in the year. Have fun recovering from vacay! 🙂
