The smell in the morning. That first sip. The warmth. There are so many things to like about coffee that draws people in. It’s something to connect people – ‘let’s grab a cup of coffee’ or to provide security ‘I neeeed my coffee’.
My order at Starbucks is a Grande Caramel Macchiato (unless seasonal, then it’s a peppermint mocha or pumpkin spice). Extra hot if I am travelling. In my brewed coffee, I take 1 sugar – that’s it.
At home we try a variety. Some are found easily at the grocery store but lately I have become a coffee snob and find I prefer a richer blend. Something more authentic and fair-trade when possible. Our current favourite is the Ten Thousand Villages blends, usually a medium roast.
My brother loves Bridgehead, and if I lived near one I suspect I would too.
This summer, thanks to Tracey at Epicuria, I discovered Joel’s Coffee. It’s locally roasted which is wonderful for those of us who appreciate a 100-Mile type of eating. It was rich, dark and very flavourful.
Coffee is a culture. I am not an expert, but I know I like it.
What do you take in your coffee? Are you a coffee drinker or is tea more your thing?
A cup of hot coffee is how I start my mornings. Just black and yes, I need it to kick start my day 🙂
Joe and I have been brewing our coffee at home for a while now, we buy beans from Equator Coffee (located in lovely downtown Almonte). The blend I like most is called Freakin’ Good Coffee and it is. In fact, after we started drinking it we ran out one morning so he brewed some of our old Second Cup coffee and I got heartburn.
When out I prefer Bridgehead – they have a really good Green-Mint infusion tea that makes me feel warm, especially when I’m not feeling well.
i am not a member of the cult of java. love the smell, but it pretty much stops there. i do however have over 15 different teas in my cupboard at the moment. though its not something that i neeeed everyday.
Coffee, coffee, coffee. I’m rediscovering Timmies these days when out and at home, hmm, we try stuff. Did Sbux for years, and am just not so in to it these days.
I love coffee. Love love love coffee. I am not a coffee snob and I will drink pretty much anything. One milk, or even better, cream. Hold the sugar.
Mmmmm coffee. We do brew it at home but also have a keurig. My order at Starbucks use to be a carmel macchiato but now I like a soy late. I am trying to cut out as much dairy as I can. And since I can not give up chees, the milk in coffee has to go! Ha! So I like soy or use a soy creamer.
I love coffee just as much as you do. But maybe I should be a bit more discriminate, I’m happy with Maxwell house as long as it’s hot 😉 I’m intrigued by Joel’s coffee, if anything, just by the name 😉
