After a wonderful visit to my husband’s family over Easter, we just returned from a family vacation in Toronto/Niagara. For those of you who don’t live in Ontario, that’s about a 4-6 hour drive from Ottawa where I live.
We do this a lot. This was the second time we’ve been to Niagara this year (and it’s undecided if it will be our last). We also go on a lot of day trips and outings.
My kids are road warriors. They know that getting in the car for hours and hours (9 when we travel to my in-laws) that they end up somewhere fun and they are okay with that.
I’ve written about our travels before, including some tips we’ve discovered when hitting the road. I’ve included links below to catch up.
I’ll be adding a new page to this site for more about travelling with kids and places we go to (and ones that you may want to go to!).
Travelling doesn’t have to be exotic to be fun, and quite frankly even though our travels are a little different now with the kids (versus when we were a couple with no kids), it’s well worth it.
Stay tuned for more! Do you travel with your kids?

We’re thinking about doing Niagara Falls this summer. The kids have never been, and I haven’t been since I was a kid myself. Can’t wait to hear how your little ones enjoyed it!
You will love Niagara Falls!!
I’m impressed that your kids are good travellers already. Mine are much older than yours and are usually pretty miserable in the car. In fairness though, my oldest gets terrible motion sickness which has curtailed our road trips a lot.
Finola, car sickness is terrible. I get it too. I’m hoping it skips the kids. My children had no choice but learn to enjoy the car and travelling. My parents used to live in Thunder Bay (a drive we did with both kids 2 years ago!) and Andy’s family is in Windsor – about 8 or 9 hours away. We had to travel to see them and seeing them was a priority. I’m hoping their enthusiasm for travelling stays. 😉
