The SavvyMom Mom Entrepreneur Award nominations are now open (until September 15th).
For the past few years, since I was off with my first born, I followed the awards with great interest and excitement. Not because I was nominated, but because it was always a great way for me to learn about new businesses, get a feel for the market place, think about ways I could be an entrepreneur, and often follow new people on Facebook, Twitter or blogs.
This is why I encourage you, no matter how big or small your business is, to put in a nomination.
Because somebody may read about you and become a customer. Or write about you. Or want to connect with you somehow.
Sure, it will take some time to fill out the form, but it’s a great way to get listed, get noticed, and potentially even win. You’ve been working hard to build your business – share it with as many people as you can!
I’m not usually a fan of vote based winning contests, but this one is different. There is a voting component but then judges will select from the top 10 finalists. It’s a new format this year, and I’m happy to see them take this approach.
Getting your business out there, and promoting what you do is important for you and your business. Every year I go through the list of new nominees and check out their websites and sometimes find new connections.
If you don’t have a business to nominate, browse through the list of those who are. You’ll be excited by all of the moms in business and who are working very hard at it.
Go ahead and apply. Let those around you know that they can vote for you. There are times when a little self promotion isn’t such a bad thing 😉
Good luck to all the nominees this year!
Thanks so much for the mention of the SavvyMom Mom Entrepreneur of the Year – you are so right about the great connections that are made through the award program and the opportunity for exposure/self-promotion. We hear so many wonderful stories every year from nominees about this kind of thing.
My pleasure, a fantastic program!
