Sometimes our smallest efforts and choices make the largest impact.
Each day we all make choices that seem like barely a drop in the water but ripple on and on.
Choosing to compost and reduce garbage production. Volunteering at the school or local organization. Donating items to the local food bank. Smiling at a complete stranger. Small things can make a difference. We work hard to try and pass these messages on to our children – to teach them kindness on the school ground and love in their home.
I’ve written about kindness before during Ottawa’s Kindness Week and how there are many different ways to be kind. I like to think that people consider kindness year round.
I was really happy to find out about Energizer teaming up with Evergreen to encourage people to submit a pledge to do something little – and help something big.
Energizer Canada and Evergreen are working together on their “Do Something Little, Help Something Big” initiative in which Energizer is proud to contribute $100,000 to Evergreen to make cities more liveable.
· For each pledge, Energizer will donate an additional $1 to Evergreen.
· Evergreen is a not-for-profit organization that is committed to making Canadian cities greater and more liveable… creating a more sustainable future for all of us.
Visit the website to see what others have been pledging and to look for inspiration. As part of the Mom Central campaign, I was enthusiastic to pledge 5 things myself. Feel free to use any of these if you are not sure what small steps you can take!
- Donate clothing that my kids no longer fit into to a local organization
- Donate to a food bank before Thanksgiving
- Randomly buy a coffee for someone at the drive thru or in line
- Continue to teach the kids about conserving water – by not running the tap while brushing teeth, not wasting water during a shower etc.
- Write a thank you letter or compliment letter to something that gives me kind service somewhere
Disclosure – I am participating in the Energizer Canada & Evergreen “Do Something Little, Help Something Big” program by Mom Central Canada on behalf of Energizer Canada & Evergreen. I received compensation as a thank you for my participation. The opinions on this blog are my own.
