Let’s be honest. When our kids go trick or treating, and come home with a pumpkin full of goodies (or ‘loot’), we are excited too.
We host Halloween with my siblings typically, so it ends up being a bunch of adults reminiscing about our favourite candy growing up, what we like, how we can’t believe they still have those taffy kisses things and we make trades.
Ohhh, spot that Rolo? I’m grabbing it while my brother scores something else. I’m sure by now my kids are wondering why their parents, aunts and uncles are rummaging through their treats. But we can’t help ourselves.
I love Rockets, and it’s a bonus if I score SweeTarts. I always want the chocolate, and try to keep the simple ones for the kids. I do not like Candy corn (although, does anyone?) and hard candy is like something from the bottom of my purse (although, my children are big fans of suckers).
Chips have a hierarchy – Doritos or a flavoured kind are most popular, the regular ones are left for the kids.
And if there is a full sized chocolate bar, it’s a fight.
On Halloween night, we are happy to spend time as a family, see the cute kids in costumes and spend some quality time together with aunts, uncles and grandparents. It’s an excuse to get together.
And score some candy, without dressing up.
Because, the house takes 30% (at least). Didn’t you know?
How about you? What favourites are you looking for on Halloween night?
Worse one year we ran out and had to give out what the kids picked up, but lets keep that our little secret.
I hate halloween. I have a serious kit kat weakness and the damn things are given out on every door step… let the eating being…
HA! Samer, that’s awesome – I always worry about running out but I’m not sure why I care that much.
We have an understanding at our house: he has a responsibility to go and retrieve candy for the whole family!
it’s the best way 😉
I love those dreaded Halloween Kisses as a kid (I am weird) and still love them today. P.S. I also hated icing on my birthday cake.
My mom loves the Kisses. We used to give all of ours to her. Or try to eat one and see if we’d lose a filling or not 😉
I claim everything that comes from Reese
Reese is yummy!
I enjoy candy corn, but the stuff that people hand out is usually stale.
ew. I’m confused 😉
Cheesies and anything with peanuts!
oh Cheesies are popular!
The house takes 30% made me spit laugh and considering it’s 5:00 a.m., that’s pretty durn good.
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups – Dig through treat bag. Eat. Repeat.
ha,it’s always been the family rule – the adults get to take from the bags, no complaints. As the kids get older, it’s becoming more of an issue 😉
Yes! Best way to describe adults stealing from Trick or Treat Bags. “The house gets 30%!!!!” Love it!
I was very surprised to find out this weekend that my husband is a candy corn fan.
