I collect a lot of antiques. It wasn’t always on purpose, some items I’ve been given by family over the years, others I’ve found at shops in my travels. But I am drawn to things that are pretty and happen to be old.
Now, of course, that I am watching Downton Abbey (awesome show FYI) I can’t help but notice those early 1900s pieces that are beautiful (and that remind me of pieces I have in my own home).
I thought I would share some of them with you once and a while, if nothing else, it will be a nice catalogue for me to have!
Folding Serving Dish:
This was my grandmother’s. I have used it for serving desserts and treats. I love how it folds up for easy (and pretty!) storage.
It folds up neatly, but when it’s unfolded, it’s even more beautiful:
Remember I said it reminds me of Downton Abbey? Look what we saw when watching the show last night:
How fun is that?!
I’ll share more of my favourite pieces. Do you have antiques or older items that are special to you?

Gaaaahh! Rebecca! I loooooove Downton Abbey! I start to get anxious about 20 minutes before it ends (that it’s going to end soon) and am mad ALL WEEK until the new one is out! It’s a problem!! 🙂
Are you still on Season 1 or are you on to Season 2? You know you can watch the new episodes each Monday on Masterpiece Theater’s website, right?
Amy we are obsessed (Andy too!). It’s sooo good.
We are one episode away from being done season 1, then we’ll get caught up to watch weekly for season 2. YAY!
That is really neat. You do realize I will expect you to serve me scones and pastries on that everytime we visit in the parlour.
Glad you like the show!
I’ll have my butler serve you next time Alison 😉
