Today was the only day it seemed to call for rain this week, so we weren’t stressed when we read it was coming in the afternoon.
Our morning was spent at the cottage playing. It was nice not to have to be somewhere or hit the road early to get to another destination and I could tell (based on how well and long they were playing) that the kids welcomed the time at the cottage as well. Coffee on the deck while the winds blew off the ocean and the sound of the waves made for a pleasant start.
We hit Charlottetown late morning. This is a town I’d like to spend 3 days in. Get a hotel and maybe even do it without the kids 🙂 There’s just so much beauty, so much to do and so many places to eat.
It was no accident that we had lunch at Water Prince Corner Shop which was features on ‘You’ve Gotta Eat Here‘ on Food Network. I had the lobster roll (it was very tasty, although I still prefer a toasted buttery bun!) and Andy had the chowder that was featured on the show, and it was amazing.
We then headed to Founder’s Hall with the kids, a museum about Confederation. Yes, I managed to sneak a little learning in on the trip. My son has now said 3 times how much he liked it (because he pretended he really did ‘teleport’ to the past). It was a good spot to be during the rain.
After, we hit some shops and of course, more COWS Ice cream.
We are spending the rest of the afternoon at the cottage, playing indoor games and snacking.
It was another good day!
Tomorrow: I think we are heading to tour lighthouses, which is one of the favourite things the kids like to do on the trip…they still talk about the lighthouses from last year.
Sounds like a lovely vacation. I’m making sure my husband reads your posts. I want to plan a family trip to PEI when we are brave enough to drive with our kids!
I’ll do a recap post with all of these links at some point when we get home 😉
The drive wasn’t too bad – we did find this year that adding a few hours to day 1 was worth it – everyone is pretty stoked on the first driving day so we get more out of them.
There’s a lovely 3 bedroom cottage right beside here too 😉 (ours is a 2)
