We wanted a quiet couple of days as we are coming to and end of our vacation (insert sobbing sounds here). So today we did just that. Tomorrow will be more of the same. Also, this is usually the part of the trip that we start looking at MLS listings or making plans to stay longer than one week next year. 😉
Today we walked along the beach and played at the cottage until after noon. It was delightful.
The breeze was relaxing and refreshing all at the same time. This afternoon we went into Cavendish for lunch. It was time for Operation Eat-Lobster-Everyday and after seeing Island Favorites on Twitter, I figured I’d put their claim to the test to see if they really were the best lobster rolls on the Island. Andy and I both agree – they win the title. Delicious and just what I wanted. Buttery, toasted, top-cut bun, not too much mayo and lots of meat. Awesome.
- Lobster roll. Perfect. Toasty, buttery, yummy. Came with a side of delicious potato salad. From Island Favorites
After that, we found some batting cages (and go-carts!) to check out at the Burlington Amusement Park. We don’t normally go out of our way for this type of setting, especially on vacation, but when we saw the batting cages we knew our son would love them. And he did. It was a lot of fun!
Then we went to The Prince Edward Island Preserve Company. I wish we had planned a whole meal around this place. It is set in a beautiful location and has an amazing menu. Go if you can. We bought strawberry-rhubarb jam and some tea. Then went and got 3 different kinds of home made pie, which we decided would be good for supper 😉 They were amazing (especially the Raspberry Cheese Cake Pie as recommended by PEI Flavours!)
Another great day.
Tomorrow is our last day (sob!!!) but we are heading to get some more COWS Ice Cream and spending most of the day playing at the cottage before the rain moves into the area in the afternoon (which will match our moods as we prepare to pack up and leave 😉
I giggled when I read your post. We did the same thing on a recent trip to New Brunswick. Lobster, lobster, lobster and more lobster.
Have you eaten at Lobster on the Wharf in Charlottetown yet? Mmmm!!!
Thanks for your kind words and what a great picture! It is very humbling to have my customers think so much of the food I serve, means a lot!
Oh man, those pies look amazing! I have a huge weakness for pie so now I simply must put PEI on the travel list. I’m drooling!
I think I want to walk right now on the beach since I am bringing burden right now perhaps walking at the beach can help to ease my burden.
