3 years ago I was writing a post about my son starting preschool. Now, here I sit, recapping how my daughter went to her first day of preschool yesterday.
The emotions were pretty well the same. I felt a little bit like Kermit the Frog in my mind doing this:
Given the fact that my baby was starting preschool.
But, as we suspected, her excitement and confidence meant that she gave us a big hug and a kiss and said goodbye, then went to join her class playing.
Andy and I were left at the top of the stairs, in pause and wait, until I finally said ‘well. I guess that means we should go’.
And so we did. Opening another chapter (and closing one) at the same time.
When we picked her up they were outside playing and when she saw us she ran into our arms. Happy and smiling, she hugged us but immediately went back to playing.
When we left, she told us that she had fun, that she was a good listener, that she ate 3 bites of her snack, that she played with her friends but she also told us that she missed us.
My baby girl went to preschool. She loved it. She wants to go back.
And I survived.
Is there a t-shirt for that?
ps: My son? Having a wonderful time in Grade 1!! Happy adjustments all around, although I still have very tired children come 3:30 pm!
I picked up mine at preschool today and she did that thing where they see you and run into your arms all excited. I love that.
I love those hugs!! Someone needs to remind my son that he should be doing them too 😉
So glad the September adjustments are going well.
We have another day of preschool with me in the class before my son stays alone. I’ll need your support next Friday.
I’ll hold your virtual hand…
