The #summerswitch program that I’ve been participating in with Microsoft Canada has come to a close so I wanted to do a wrap up post.
I’ve highlighted how much I really love the camera, especially the editing/sharing options, plus the video quality is fantastic. The Kids Corner is not only unique but would come in handy for most families that allow their kids to use their smartphones.
I should make note that I find the battery life, something I bemoan at times on my iPhone, is really great. I can go a long time using various parts of the phone, and not even on WiFi and still have a lot of life in it when it’s all said and done. It doesn’t take long to recharge either.
Of course, as much as I loved many parts of the phone, there were other areas that were harder to get used to. The way my Gmail looked, the touch sensitivities at times, the Bing search function that kept popping up to help, and the lack of apps is noticeable.
But the Nokia Lumia 920 surprised me. It had a lot of ‘oooh’ and ‘ahhh’ features that made me keep going back to it, enough that by the end of the program I was using it past our ‘required’ date.
When I told my husband that I was doing my wrap up post and that the program was over, he quickly stated ‘you’ve been using the Windows phone more than your iPhone this week’.
The program requirements were over before we left for our trip. But I still wanted to take the phone, especially for pictures. But he was right, I was pulling it out of my bag more than the iPhone lately.
Clearly, my phone needs are quite minimal. Video, camera, music at times, texting, social sharing and surfing. But finding the right phone to do these tasks is important no matter what their usage is.
I don’t want to give up aspects of the Windows phone in all honesty, and I’m not sure if I’ll be keeping it or not. My current plan is to go back to using my iPhone, my apps, my texts, and the programs I’m accustomed to as my primary phone. And I don’t need two phones. But parting with the Windows phone is a lot harder than I would have guessed.
Thank you to the Microsoft and Rogers #summerswitch team for the opportunity!
Since the program is setting, I leave you with a sunset phone take from the phone 😉
Disclosure: I received compensation and a phone for my participation in the summer switch program but all opinions are my own
