We’ve always set a fairly typical bedtime routine for the kids. We knew the magic time that we had to start at (give or take) and we quickly learned, on average, how long each of them would take – and how much ‘lead in time’ they needed to settle down. As they get older, we find these schedules fluctuate and change, but they are still set in some routine.
My daughter’s routine has been fairly consistent lately. Our pre-sleep activities together are simple but fun. Currently, this includes books, Angry Birds and UNO.
Despite my frustration at times when she is fighting sleep, or pushing for ‘one more minute, one more game’ etc. I am quite taken with these memories we are building. As long as we start at a decent time and don’t extend her bedtime too late (or to the point where we reach that over-tired stage that is dreaded among parents), I’m happy to have a few special moments like this. And she’s a really good UNO player.
I used to love Uno and I was wondering if the kid was old enough for it
if she knows her numbers she can! At first we would help (cheat) but peeking at their cards but it didn’t take either long to pick it up – also, each turn I would say ‘do you have a 7 that matches, a green or a black card?’ to help. Now dd can play like a shark 😉
I love UNO! Great idea!
