It amazes me that after living in Ottawa for 15 years, and raising a family in it for nearly 8 years, there are still so many parts of this area we haven’t yet explored.
This past weekend, on a glorious, sunny, perfectly temperate Fall Thanksgiving weekend, we found another one of those hidden-to-us gems in the East end of Ottawa.
The Mer Bleue Bog shows up in my Facebook newsfeed each year, particularly when there is snow on the ground. All I knew about it was that it’s a place Chickadees like to go. We were looking for something family oriented, and outdoors, to do, so a Fall walk seemed like a great fit.
We were very happy we went. It featured gorgeous views and the chance to connect with nature (picking leaves off the ground is an activity for all!)
If you get a chance, it’s worth the drive to take the kilometer or so walk around the boardwalk. We can’t wait to go back to try and find chickadees (we even saw one this time!)
Beautiful. I went to the MBB for the first time in the summer. And actually, I’ve discovered more of Ottawa in the past 4 months than I did in the previous 18ish years. It’s an incredibly gorgeous city, as your lovely pics make clear. : )
I want to go back soon! It’s so lovely!
