WE LEAVE FOR DISNEY TOMORROW!
Yes, That needed to be in all caps. I am super excited. The kids are super excited (the eldest has slept worth nothing all week but at least he’s excited) and my parents are super excited.
I love to travel, but, I don’t find it an easy task. I have never been an impulsive, run-out-the-door kind of traveler. I need to prepare. To cross items off the to-do list. To make sure I have everything, have done everything and so on.
When we travel to see Andy’s family for a week at a time, we often time it to simply pick him up at work and hit the road. Which means for many years, I have been left with that ‘pack the car and the kids’ last minute panic. I hate that feeling. I hate being the one to lock the door, shut off the lights and count how many pairs of shoes everyone has. I don’t mind doing it, but I do like to have another pair of eyes (oh, hello anxiety. I see you peeking out there.)
Tonight is a team effort to get everything done, so that’s no worries, but I still am going through the stages today.
A few days ago, I wasn’t ready. Simple as that. The week was going by too quickly, work deadlines were stacking up, and the house was a disaster.
As of yesterday afternoon, I moved into a more comfortable zone. Work stuff is all but done. Rooms have been tidied. Packing has begun.
Today, I am into the ‘what did I forget’ stage. Was there an email I was supposed to send? A project that I just didn’t finish? An item at the store I was supposed to pick up? This is the haunting stage.
Tonight, as I fall asleep, I will still have this feeling. It lasts until I am basically on the plane.
Then, I switch to full vacay mode. I’m not someone who shuts off social media when I travel, so expect some posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The blog will have a few things scheduled to go up next week that I hope you check out, but for live chatter, you know where to find me.
In the meantime, let me know what I’m forgetting, okay?
Are you an ease-of-mind traveler? Or a worry wart like me?
PASSPORTS! DON’T FORGET THEM! And chargers. 🙂
Have fun!
