Did you know there is a National Orange Juice Day? There is! And it’s on May 4. I’ll say cheers to that.
I’m pretty sure my kids celebrate National Orange Juice Day every day. They love it. Of course, we don’t let them drink all that they want (trust me, that would be a lot), but having a small glass of orange juice with their breakfast has become almost a tradition. They get it from their father who is a huge orange juice lover.
There’s something comforting about a glass of 100% pure Florida orange juice. When we have a cold we recommend having a glass of orange juice. When I take my iron pills and Vitamin D, it’s often with a glass. I love how refreshing it is in the morning when I start my day.
Orange juice has is usually part of our breakfast routine. Breakfast for us is huge around here. Is it like that at your house? I always say that my kids eat like a triangle: A lot in the morning and then less and less as the day goes on, making breakfast really important. On weekends, or holidays when we are all home together, we have big breakfasts. The kids will likely say that crepes, waffles and pancakes are their favourite (I love waffles and crepes!) but a class egg and bacon or sausage breakfast is hard to beat.
Why do we love breakfast so much? For starters, it’s the one meal we know the kids will eat a lot of. Secondly, we love being able to start our day together with a big feast, chatting about our plans for the day or week to come. These meals are the ones we remember.
Join us for the National Orange Juice Day Twitter Party
Author Kathy Buckworth is hosting a National OJ Day Twitter party on Monday, May 4 and I get to be one of the participating moderators! This means I’ll be chatting with everyone (hopefully you!) about family breakfast “must haves”, how we squeeze in quality time with the family and the importance of empowering the family to make healthy choices away from the home.
There are prizes to be won and it’s always a great way to ‘meet’ people on Twitter. More details and full contest rules can be found on their website.
Mark your calendar for Monday May 4th from 9 – 10 pm EST and I hope to see you there!

Disclosure: This post has been sponsored by Florida Orange Juice and I have been compensated to work on this campaign, however, all opinions are my own. Also, the first thing I thought of when they told me the date for National Orange Juice Day was that it’s also Star Wars Day. Please tell me there is a funny orange juice/Star Wars pun happening somewhere?
