Have you been a busy elf prepping for the holidays? Baking, shopping, decorating, getting the kids concert outfits ready and more? It’s early in December but we are in full holiday mode around here.
No matter how you spend December (whether you celebrate the season or not), it’s a good time of year to reflect on some of our habits and make a few resolutions for the new year, in particular, when it comes to our shopping decisions and the effect they have on our environment, our bodies and our futures.
I’ve teamed up with terra20, one of my favourite stores, to bring you a very special giveaway, just for you!
Throughout the past many years, you’ve read about my own personal shift to more conscious, sustainable habits in our home and when it comes to my personal care products for myself and family. Over the years, I’ve become more aware of the reusable containers and packaging we use in the home, beauty products that I buy for myself, bathing products for the kids, cleaning supplies, and other household decisions.
I slowly, but surely, have tried to become more ‘green’ in my efforts and I know many of you have as well, or are interested in doing that do.
WANT TO WIN?
If you want to start making changes in the new year, I applaud you. My friends at terra20 have great information in store and on their website to help you find the products that you are looking for (and I have been writing monthly articles on their site with information I think you’ll find helpful too!)
So that’s why I’m excited to have teamed up with them to offer one lucky blog reader the chance to win a CUSTOM GIFT BOX from terra20.
This gift set is going to be personally curated by myself and their team to find the best products based on your needs (and of course it will include some of my personal favourites!)
I’ll be in touch with the winner to ask a few questions about products of interest to ensure we create the best gift for them.
Terra20 and I want to help you make more eco-friendly buying decisions in future and we are hoping this is one step in the right direction!

I like to try to find products that work, but are still eco friendly.
I would love to switch to more eco-friendly cleaners, such as laundry detergent, dish soap, window cleaner, etc., and to use washable cloths instead of paper towels!
I would like to learn about other cleaners that can be used effectively for cleaning my house.
I want to get rid of plastic straws and get some lunch stuff to get rid of plastuc baggies!
For our advent Christmas book calendar I sewed reusable bags that we can use each year instead of wrapping them in paper each year.

To be more eco-friendly this holiday season I want to use more natural festive scented air fresheners. I will also be reusing gift bags from previous years.

I am using eco friendly products like soap, dish liquid and suds. Thanks!
I’ve been getting more into natural products, and so far I’m loving the results. I’ve been using attitude cleaning products, and got more reusable containers for lunches. Trying to produce less waste! Would love to add more eco-friendly products to my daily routine.
We’re going to make sure to use more eco-friendly wrapping options.
Using less plastic more glass. Stopped buying bottled water & use a glass water bottle.
To be more eco-friendly this holiday season, I’ve been cleaning my house with natural cleaners.
I plan to continue migrating my choice of cleaning products (among other daily supplies use) from the shelves of big grocery stores to local stores such as Terra20 or Nu. I want to actively think of new ways to reduce my use of single use plastic and plan ahead to avoid situations where I might have to use some out of necessity.
We use newspaper as wrapping paper.
For this holiday season, I am using recyclable paper for wrapping gifts (as traditional paper cannot be recycled!), and cleaning in prep for the holidays with eco cleaners! In the new year, I would like to try more eco friendly litterless lunch ideas
This year I will only be using only reusable holiday gift bags.
We are buying the bulk of all our holiday gifts from local stores to both support independent businesses and to reduce the distance that gifts must be shipped.
I have been reusing my glass jars
I plan on getting natural products for my new baby sister. Im going to buy castile soap, shea butter, cocoa butter and oils to make natural creams and shampoos for her.
This holiday season I want to reduce the amount of waste we produce in all areas by using my reusable containers, bags, as well as alternative wrapping with paper and recyclables.
I want to avoid gift wrapping and cards. Those practices are incredibly wasteful. I plan on reusing past gift bags and tissue paper.
This new year I want to continue to switch to more eco friendly products for my entire house. This includes eco and natural makeup and beauty products, as well as more reusable containers and water bottles for food storage.
I love the challenge of finding something new and earth-friendly every Christmas. I have been doing it for years and I really have to get creative with new ideas! Some of my favourite tips are to repurpose old greeting cards by cutting out parts to use as gift tags, giving the gift of a donation (no waste!), using fabric to wrap, and making gifts by hand.
I made fabric gift bags that could be used over and over again! In 2019 I hope to make more bags (I have enough for my family but not to give away!)
To be eco friendly we have switched e everything to reusable containers, we conserve our hydro, water, etc. We constantly try to reuse things and repurpose things to reduce our footprint on the world
I am trying to reduce my food packaging by buying in bulj and buying loose produce, etc. I bought Abeego beeswax food wrap as a stocking stuffer – saves us from using plastic wrap and baggies.
I actively recycle, papers plastics etc, I just moved from Alberta to Manitoba, they unfortunately dont have bbn little depots here, which I’m pretty sad about. I use reusable shopping bags, I have a few which are my favorite. I also like to walk everywhere, I try not to use motorized transportation to go places like cabs (since I dont drive) I would much rather walk to wherever I need to go as long as it’s not all the way across town, and when it is I of course use public transportation instead of cabs. As for the holidays I use gift bags instead of wrapping paper, as I can reuse them instead of throwing them out. Thanks for the chance!
trying to reduce waste, this Christmas made cloth bags to use instead of Christmas wrap! using more natural cleaners in the house!
Making my own reusable cloth gift bags.
I cut out plastic bags years ago, but my containers are dingy, scratched, and stained from use! I’d love a new set 🙂
I’m trying to use fewer chemicals in the house
I don’t buy gift bags to put gifts in. I just use regular bags i have. I also don’t give out paper cards.
we are buying less and gifting more of our time.
I’m making cloth gift bags
This year, I’m giving away tickets to experiences and not things to people to save on packaging.
I intend to lessen my waste and reuse, recycle and repurpose items around the house before thinking of buying it.
I want to make my own foaming hand soaps, cleaners, etc. Using any shampoos, conditioners, body wash that can be refilled. Repurposing as much as possible and being more active on Buy Nothing groups to keep things out of landfills and reuse!
I’m trying to use less chemicals in my house, also, I’m trying to get rid of plastic bags.
Love this blog!
Reusing my bags/wrapping paper from last year!
We have recently decided to become a more eco friendly home. In the New Year, we plan to purchase more natural products – eliminating chemicals in our food and cleaning products, as well as the lotions and shampoo we use for our baby. I will be replacing my makeup with more natural and non-toxic alternatives. So far, we have been able to find everything we need at terra20!
I would like to start using beeswax wrap instead of plastic wrap.
We’ve managed to move a lot of things over to eco-friendly options thanks to Terra20, including salt for winter ice, soaps and detergents, makeup and accessories, containers for lunches, metal straws, candles etc. I’d love to see what else we can transition to more eco friendly methods. One I’ve been scared to try are feminine hygeine products!
We’re making our own soap as a family.
I am finally at the bottom of my box of disposable freezer bags, so this year I am planning to fully make the switch to reusable freezer options. Containers, bags, and more. I have collected some freezer safe containers already and recently found some silicone freezer bags that can also be used for sous vide cooking. I haven’t purchased them yet though as I was waiting until my disposable ones ran out.
I’m a big fan of Terra20! They offer amazing products that abide by their moral code. Products that work, are eco-friendly, not harmful to the user or the bunnies, are fashionable (hello clothing) and are very reasonably priced. I’ve been shopping at Terra20 for a couple years now, and highly recommend to everyone who will listen. Am even buying most of my Christmas gifts there this year!
In the New Year, I’d like to have all my skincare and cleaning supplies to be as zero waste as possible and as natural as possible. This will likely mean refillable products and products in glass of paper packaging.
In the new year I’d love to switch to eco-friendly cleaners and try the ecobar at Terra20 for cost saving refills!
I use reusable containers for the kids lunches, and try to buy items with less packaging
I always try to reuse as much as wrapping materials as I can–bags, boxes, wrapping paper, you name it!
Have started using Eco friendly products since becoming a Mama hope to switch out the rest of my products in the New year
I want to try the skincare products that you recommended in your video! I already have the mascara – but I want to try the tinted moisturizer for an upcoming Christmas party for a nice glow 🙂 We use metal straws but I might pick up some silicone as well and I am hoping to find a shampoo bar that works with my hair! We do litter less lunches but I do have to pick up some additional smaller dipping containers etc. A new laundry soap would be great too – do you have one you would recommend?
I want to reduce waste by using reusable bags and straws next year.
I have for about 4 months now been saving all boxes from deliveries and reuse them for compositing materials by mixing them in with food waste to make compost for my greenhouse
I’ve just started looking into more eco friendly cleaning and home supplies!Thats my goal for 2019!
Would love to learn about healthy living. Thank you
I want to quit using plastic bags and bring my own bags to the store.
I’m going to continue working on being a happier and healthier me.
I would love this for a niece. Cinderella Wool Finger Puppets. Her and her brother could put on shows for days. So cute and great price.
We are slowly decluttering the house, and working hard at not bringing new things in, and only replacing things when we need to. We have also scaled way back on ‘stuff’ and are spending more time doing things together.
I love the eco bar products at terra20! I’m looking to invest in some beeswax food wraps and metal straws! This Christmas I’m determined to not use meters and meters of wrapping paper… That stuff has got to go!
We have made huge changes over the last 10 years to be more eco-friendly and safe for our family and the environment. Our next goal is to completely do away with plastic wrap and attempt to eliminate all food packaging as much as possible.
We are working towards a more Eco friendly household. Here’s to a healthier 2019!
I would like to start using more eco-friendly products for hair and skin care for the entire family, as well as cleaning products for the home. Plus, the yoga products look great!
