If you say ‘ham buns’ often enough, you eventually say ‘ham bums’ and the kids laugh. Sigh.
It’s almost embarrassing for me to tell you how often we make this easy dinner, but I can’t stop myself from doing it because they are delicious. Also, you know I love having some easy recipes to turn to.
(Read my post about reducing dinnertime planning stress here.)
Yes, the brioche bun is a bit of the star, and that’s okay. Also, use the grainy mustard. Everything is better with grainy mustard.
For my daughter’s birthday, we used my big griddle pans to make two packages per tray (and made two trays) to serve a crowd. It doesn’t get easier than this.
ps: add pickles if you like. They are yummy, but with the kids, I’ve ditched them.
Recipe/Assembly for Ham Buns
Ingredients you’ll need:
Brioche dinner rolls x 12
1 package of sliced black forest ham
1 package of sliced swiss cheese
1/3 cup of butter
2 tsp grainy dijon mustard
(Avengers) Assemble:
Slice the package of rolls down the middle and lay the bottoms in a 9×13 pan
Layer with swiss cheese and ham (you can decide if you want one layer or two each)
Melt the butter and add the mustard, stir.
Pour over the buns.
Place in the oven at 350 for 15-25 minutes, until the buns are browning and cheese is melty enough.
Serve and enjoy! (we usually pair them with a side salad)
