We may not be able to have our regular in-person extra curricular activities at the moment, but these virtual classes will keep your kids (and you!) interested!
Admittedly, to past the time right now, my family is playing a lot of Nintendo Switch that we got for Christmas and binge watching television shows.
We are trying to keep up with other interests of course; reading, puzzles, crafts, art, music…and really just trying to make a winter activity plan.
Without access to art classes or indoor sports like we used to have in the winter, many families are turning to online and virtual classes to keep the kids busy, entertained and having some fun.
In addition to keeping the kids busy, I know from my own experience that finding ways to keep my own mind from racing all the time is more important now than ever. There are virtual classes for adults too!
The City of Ottawa has launched their virtual winter programming and there are many options to choose from!
A mix of short workshops and multi-week courses will begin on Monday, January 25. There will be offerings for every age group. Programs will include:
- Language classes (French and Spanish)
- Science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs (STEM)
- Cooking classes
- Visual arts: drawing, painting, digital arts
- Fitness: Zumba©, bootcamp, yoga
- Dancing: ballet, hip hop and others
- Martial arts, Tai Chi
- Leadership programs
Virtual classes help support everyone’s COVID-19 prevention efforts. Staying active and occupied with live-streamed, interactive classes is a perfect way to promote physical and mental well-being.
