Every time we travel, for as long as I can remember, the kids always brought travel buddies/stuffies with them. And for many trips, we would often end up getting a new one along the way who would come home and meet their new pals.
Stuffed animals and dolls are are always welcome to come with us. However, we sometimes run into the issue of having to narrow it down. My eldest has a few go-to pals that tend to always travel along, or they rotate and take turns. For this year’s March Break trip, Skipper the Cow and Mrs. Toucan (the – you guessed it – toucan) will be joining us. Mrs. Toucan is one of his oldest stuffies (Pete the Penguin being the eldest)
My daughter had a harder time narrowing it down and while we finally convinced her not to bring the four Beanie Boos and one doll with us, we’re still over capacity. Leonie, her Maplelea Doll, and two Beanie Boos have joined us. Oh, and a small bag of Leonie’s clothes. Of course.
I can’t imagine them not having their pals along for the long car rides we take, or flights to sunny destinations. These are pillows (I’ve been known to borrow them as a pillow from time to time), and companions, and play buddies, and sleep aids. They are a part of our travel plans always.
My biggest worry is always losing them! When I’m clearing out a hotel room or checking seats on a plane, I’m constantly not only counting my kids but also the travel companions who have joined us. But it’s worth having them come along. The kids love it.
