Today my husband and I celebrate our 5 year anniversary. It has been a wonderful 5 years. 2 children later, things certainly have changed, but my love for him only grows.
Big things are important in a marriage. That we are respectful of one another, empathize with each other, trust the other completely and communicate openly and honestly are just some of the main things that make our relationship work – quite beautifully I will say. Also, the fact that he is a great father is a wonderfully romantic thing.
But after 5 years, I’ve come to realize that it’s the small things that really count. Anyone can remember to send flowers on Valentine’s Day (don’t get me wrong, I love getting them!), but it takes a real partner to take the time to do something special each and every day.
My husband’s special little things that are HUGE to me:
-He knows how to make my coffee. I like coffee.
-When he brings me a cup of tea, the tea bag is removed or he gives me a spoon to take it out, because I don’t like it to steep too long.
-When he goes grocery shopping, he brings back a chocolate treat.
-He tells me I don’t need makeup (even on the mornings when I painfully do!)
-He does the vacuuming – not romantic to you, but amazing to me.
Happy Anniversary honey. Thanks for all the big things that are important, but it’s the little things that still make me swoon. xoxo
