This week’s Mommy Monday is dedicated to a couple bloggy moms who have been posting about money and finances. Even though we are currently in a recession, I suspect that most of you deal with finances all the time anyway. But now, in light of the times and the economic situation, it’s become a topic of panic, fear and stress for many.
Finances and household economics is something that is usually quite personal. We often fear discussing it openly with others, even if we think there’s something to be learned. We hold our cheque books very closely to our chests, in good times and in bad. That’s why I was so impressed when Amy at Muddy Boots Blog began blogging about her goal to reduce debt (and added an accountability meter to demonstrate her progress) and posting her groceries each week while working towards lowering her grocery budget. She has been blowing away her debt and we love reading such positivity about money in a time when the news highlights only doom and gloom.
The other Mommy Monday feature blog this week is PhD in Parenting’s post about financial literacy and your children. Now, this is a blog I hold in high regard, so don’t be surprised if I make reference to this very smart mama in future Mommy Monday’s, but this week’s money post is well-researched, thoughtful and simply full of important information that you want to know as a parent trying to guide your children through the questions they may have (or not be asking) during the recession.
For all of us struggling with money, or with finances on the brain, thanks fellow moms for helping us along the way!
