We have a lot of travel planned for the summer – mostly to visit family that lives out of town, but still in Ontario. As such, we’ve decided that there are simply too many things around our own amazing town, Ottawa, to ignore. So, we’ve decided to do a few extra Ottawa area fun visits in the month of June.
As Ottawa citizens, I think we take for granted what all this city has to offer. When family or friends come to visit from out of town, they are in awe of the city. At times, we just see traffic and housing developments.
As we visit each of our destinations, I’ll post a review with comments and details. If you live in Ottawa, you may decide to try to save a couple bucks this summer and stick close to the area. If you live out of town and are thinking about visiting, hopefully I can help.
If you have any questions about the places I’m going to visit (or have visited), please don’t hesitate to email me or leave a comment asking for more details. In some cases, I can even provide recommendations on nursing facilities, nearby food joints etc.
Weather permitting, and barring any unforeseen things happening, here’s some of the touristy things we plan to do this month:
-Visit the National Gallery of Canada
-Visit the Canadian Children’s Museum
-Walk around the Parliament Buildings (side note: We got engaged on a snowy night near the back of the buildings overlooking the water 3 days before Christmas so the Christmas lights were on…um ya, awesome)
-Visit Upper Canada Village
-Renew our members to the Cumberland Heritage Museum and visit
-Drive to Merrickville and walk around – the ice cream shop is a must. Will likely also leave with some delicious fudge.
*phew* this may be a busy month, but man it’ll be fun…Go Ottawa 🙂
Update: Thanks Anna @bargainmoose for sending me info that I had known about but totally forgot – you can get into museums for FREE! Check it out at Bargain Moose
