We did this activity last year when my son was really getting into learning his letters. He would often randomly run over and point out letters. It was a great way to identify letters randomly, and made a wonderful Fall decoration for our play room!
Step 1: Print leaves on different fall coloured paper. I got the template here: Leaves. You will need 26.
Step 2: Once printed and cut (this does take a while!) Add the letters of the alphabet, 1 per leaf. (I used capital letters, that’s what we were starting with)
Step 3: Using brown construction paper, brown paper bag, bristol board etc. cut out a tree trunk and branches (notice my incredible talent for this below – ha!)
Step 4: Attach trunk and branches to the wall. Have your little one(s) help you put the leaves on the tree, identifying the letters as they do it. For beginners, you can put them in order, or make them random. (note: we use that blue tack stuff to attach stuff to the wall)
Every so often, if you are doing letter crafts or talking about letters, have them find it on the tree!
After, we packed it away when we switched to winter and I just pulled it out again to put on the wall. The Boy loved it!
