The early warm weather has brought green into many of our gardens. This will be the first full year with our redone backyard and I couldn’t be more happy.
The plants have started to sprout green, birds are coming to eat at our feeder (I have counted 7 different species so far), the patio furniture is begging for me to go out in the am and have a coffee and the kids are having fun digging in the future veggie patch and playing – I haven’t even put in a sand box yet!
Also, we have spotted a rabbit, chipmunks and squirrels in our urban green space!
My favourite thing though is the bird watching. We get excited every time we see a little bird back there eating away. My son got some binoculars to bird watch from our dining room window!
How is your garden coming this year?
(This little bird is a dark-eyed junco. They don’t eat at the feeder but peck like chickens so they collect the feed that other birds drop, or the stuff I throw around for them 😉
(Daylillies are really wanting to grow!)
(part of the oasis 😉
(see that back corner? a few veggies will go there)
(one of our new favourite things to do – bird watching! The crane is for the garden as well – it’s from Ten Thousand Villages and I got it for dh last year for our 5th anniversary)
My Mom and Dad got us into bird watching. They have several feeders and it brings so many birds that we gone one last year too! The kids love it so we will add another this year.
As for the rabbits, I have a few I would be happy to share with you as they ate my cedars this winter and we will have to replant.
I am not a fan of the rabbits. In fact, they make me mad – they left poop all in the yard and eat my plants! The kids squeal in delight when they see one so we pretend to be happy. ha. 😉
My parents have a piece of driftwood that looks like a crane – life sized, and last year they had an actual crane fly down, check it out, want to mate with it. It was hilarious!
Such a great back yard. I can't wait to get gardening. I keep walking around my yard looking at the perennials as they are growing. I am starting a gardening blog soon. I hoped to have it going by now but I am so slow these days. I will let you know when I do.
Love the photo of your son looking out the window. My day lilies are popping up as well. If you would like an easy idea for garden decor check out my post today:)
