Stay tuned – after the recipe there are two chances to win great prizes!
I love butter. It’s no secret. I’ve written about butter almost as much as my kids on this blog. When I got the chance to try out Gay Lea Foods Spreadable butter it was something new because I’m a purist with my butter (and frankly, Gay Lea makes the best butter).
But having the canola oil in with the butter to make it easy to spread at any time is very handy. Plus, when I cook – sauteeing for example – I use a combination of oils and butter.
I decided to take a twist on the Gay Lea Spreadables butter and canola oil by transforming it. I wanted to flavour it. Just like at fancy restaurants, flavouring the butter is a fantastic twist on a warm bread at dinner, or in my cooking.
The combinations are endless – roasted garlic and rosemary would be divine. A savoury thyme spread. Or maybe caramelized onions.
I chose a sun-dried tomato pesto which on a crostini will be perfect, or added to my next veggie sautee.
Sun-dried tomato Spreadable butter
Ingredients:
1/2 container of Gay Lea Spreadables Butter
2 tsp sun-dried tomato pesto
Directions:
Blend together the Spreadable butter and the pesto.
To save it back in the Spreadables container, fold a small piece of wax paper and place against the remaining butter. Add back the new pesto butter (which will be quite soft). This also works if you want to make two different kinds at one time. Just use half the container for each flavour and separate with wax paper.
Keep in the fridge until use.

love butter and flavoured butter but I NEVER think to make it! Gotta get on that!
Love that you showed how to store it too!
I would like to make a fab pie crust.
Great ideas!! I am not as creative as you!! A garlic butter would be delicious for quick and easy garlic bread – i like your idea of carmelized onions too! Yum!
I’d probably go pretty standard with a garlic butter and/or cinnamon honey butter. Yum!
I would love to try a roasted garlic butter.
I’d go with a garlic and chive butter
What a great idea for storing & for making 2 at once. I have some frozen pesto that might be good as well as making some garlic butter.
Spreadable butter was of course, made for spreading, so since I can’t resist its charms I like to whirl up some garlic butter for garlic bread. Not only does spreadable butter save on butter-softening time, but it ensures that the butter has no lumps when spreading onto the bread and is oh-so silky smooth. With all this in store, I can eat my garlic bread all the more quicker 🙂
I’d make shortbread….YUM!!!!
how about caramelized onion and garlic?
I would like to make a garlic and chive butter.
I make a mean cheese bread spread.
Garlic butter is a classic at our house! My boys love butter on their rice so maybe a Mexican or East Indian spice blend in there? Curry & caramelized onions might work.
